Sun 18 May
Penn State Glee Club
The Gentlemen of Song
7:30pm | Hospital Church Perchtoldsdorf
Penn State Glee Club: The Gentlemen of Song master music from the 16th century as well as that of the great classical period or gospels and spirituals. The concert programme includes works by Jakobus Gallus and Frederic Chopin as well as those by Franz Biebl or Irish folk songs and American traditionals.
The Pennsylvania State Glee Club has been in existence for 135 years and is one of the oldest and most traditional university choirs in the USA. The members of the choir are made up of students from the various faculties and their doctoral students. Performances from Trinidad to Portugal or from Iceland to Wales document the quality of the choir.
As part of its anniversary tour through Europe, Sonnberg Perchtoldsdorf was able to inspire the ensemble, under the experienced direction of conductor Christopher Kiver, for a concert in the Spitalskirche Perchtoldsdorf. The Gentlemen of Song will be accompanied on the piano by the marvellous Seulki Yoo.
We are particularly pleased that the ensemble has agreed to waive any fees and donate the donations from this concert evening to the Austrian Young Labourers' Movement's development aid project in Burkina Faso, education for young people.
The Sonnberg Perchtoldsdorf Secondary School Association actively supports this project and is looking forward to your visit!
You can look forward to an exciting and varied concert evening. We look forward to welcoming many visitors!
