Charity Concert by the Vienna Boys Choir
to support the Victims of the Flood Disaster
8:00pm | St. Stephen’s Cathedral
Listen to the Vienna Boys Choir perform works by Mozart, Handel, Mendelssohn, Beethoven & more in a benefit concert for the victims of the flood disaster.
The devastating floods that recently hit large parts of Austria have robbed many people of their livelihoods. To support the victims of this flood disaster, two of Austria's flagship organisations, the Vienna Boys' Choir and St. Stephen's Cathedral, are hosting a special benefit concert in aid of the ORF initiative ÖSTERREICH HILFT ÖSTERREICH.
The concert is a very important matter for the children and young people of the Vienna Boys' Choir; they want to help. In addition to the Vienna Boys‘ Choir itself, the Vienna Girls’ Choir and Chorus Juventus will perform the most beautiful choral works from their repertoire - ranging from Henry Purcell to Felix Mendelssohn and Glenn Miller. The highlight of the concert will be a musical unity: For the grand finale, all the choirs will sing Karl Jenkins' rousing Adiemus, the Hallelujah from George Frideric Handel's “Messiah” and Ludwig van Beethoven's Ode to Joy together - in a spectacular jazz arrangement. Erasmus Baumgartner is the overall conductor.
All donations and proceeds from the evening will go directly to the ORF initiative ÖSTERREICH HILFT ÖSTERREICH, under which the aid organisations of Caritas, Diakonie, Hilfswerk, Red Cross and Volkshilfe offer access to prompt relief aid and later also provide reconstruction aid. By attending the concert, you are making an important contribution to supporting the flood victims and sending a signal of solidarity in these difficult times for so many Austrians. St Stephen's Cathedral, the Vienna Boys' Choir and the agency Kunst & Kultur - ohne Grenzen are making themselves available free of charge and all ticket proceeds will be donated to those affected by the flood disaster.
For more information and direct donations, visit the website of the ORF initiative ÖSTERREICH HILFT ÖSTERREICH at helfen.orf.at or the teletext page 685.
Be there and help with music - because every donation counts!
