From CLASSIC
to FOLKLORE
7:00pm | MuTh
Listen to a lively concert from Austrian classical music with Haydn to Rossini's opera music and Bartók's Romanian Dances at the MuTh.
The Norwalk Youth Symphony under Jonathan Yates performs an elegant, dance-inspired concert program for the benefit of the Caritas Hospice of the Archdiocese of Vienna & the Hilfswerk Neighborhood Centers.
The sonic journey takes you from the world of opera with Rossini's lively Barber of Seville to the world of folk music with Béla Bartók's fascinating Romanian Dances. The program is rounded off by the solemn sounds and lively dance rhythms of Joseph Haydn's Symphony No. 104 - a sonic feast that enchants the audience with its timeless beauty.
The concert evening is also special because the young musicians from the USA are supporting two charitable organizations: all concert donations will go to the Hilfswerk Neighborhood Centers and the Caritas Hospice of the Archdiocese of Vienna.
The charities:
The Caritas Hospice of the Archdiocese of Vienna accompanies seriously ill, dying people and their relatives, because despite serious illness, there is much that can be done to maintain or improve quality of life.
The Hilfswerk Neighborhood Centers are places of exchange, networking and living together. With their wide range of services, they are open to everyone and are there for people who need support or want to help.
