The Sound of Wind & Brass
American Brass Music
6:30pm | Minoritenkirche
Admission free - counting tickets required
Under the theme “The Sound of Wind & Brass – American Brass Music,” the American Music Abroad – New Horizons Tour will present a captivating concert experience full of rich tones, energy, and musical diversity on Saturday, June 20, 2026, at 6:30 p.m. at the Minoritenkirche in Vienna.
An evening of music for everyone—admission is free—with all donations from the evening benefiting the neighborhood centers of the Wiener Hilfswerk and the Caritas Hospice.
The ensemble presents a rich and varied program that impressively reflects the stylistic diversity of American wind music. With works such as *Galop* by Gary P. Gilroy, *Alchemy* by Andrew Boysen Jr., and the festive *Festivo* by Václav Nelhýbel, the musical spectrum ranges from energetic concert pieces to atmospheric soundscapes. Film music highlights such as “Themyscira” from the score by Hans Zimmer and the “Pirates of the Caribbean” highlights are just as recognizable as classics of the wind orchestra repertoire, including “Bandology” by Eric Osterling, “Heartland March” by Randall Standridge, and “Joyful Journey” by Robert Sheldon.
The American Music Abroad Honor Bands and Choirs have been delighting European concertgoers for over five decades. The New Horizons Community Tour brings together some 50 dedicated adult musicians from numerous U.S. states as well as Ontario (Canada), who have formed an international symphonic band ensemble and are fostering musical connections across national borders during their European tour through the Czech Republic, Austria, and Hungary.
